Creative shoes

Alexander McQueen's shoes

While on the topic of shoes, I discovered a genius shoe-designer called Kobi Levi. A Jerusalem graduate, the Israeli-designer has given a new meaning to creative shoe designing. While Alexander McQueen has given us some incredible designs, Levi takes it to a different level altogether. Feast on these :)

Hey sexy lady!
The double-sided shoes!

Gaga's sticky-shoes!

Sky-high recently got a new definition. Who else but Lady Gaga could've achieved the feat! In New York shooting for Vanity Fair magazine, The Gagas stunned onlookers when she stepped out wearing 24-inch heeled shoes. Rather call them joker's half sticks! And she looked nothing less.
It wasn't just painstaking for The Gagas (she stumbled and fell during the shoot, Duh! but obvious!), also for her bodyguard who had to carry her around.

Talking about outrageous heels, The Gagas is known to have always made some shoe-statements. Check this out. American Idol had to censor these penis-shaped shoes worn by her.

See, how the logo has been strategically placed to hide The Gaga's modesty!

Scarf Dress

Scarf dresses - a staple Goan dress for tourists - has always had my mixed reactions. Some days, I utterly hate it and other days I am tempted to try. But do what I may, I always end up changing into a safer bet. What is it about the scarf dress that has something missing? Below are two images of the scarf dress.

Actress Soha Ali Khan sports a scarf dress

If you are the sorts who likes to stitch her own, check out the video by this Spanish girl, Gianny L, who not only tutors on how to make one but also how to wear it differently. Good work!

Hollywood copies Bollywood?

Is it a case of Hollywood copying Bollywood?
First is a trailer of One Day, starring Anne Hathway. The movie tells the story of two college sweethearts who keep coming back to each other or are circumstantially-forced to reunite each time.
Second is Hum Tum, starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji. The two keep bumping into each other over the years only to re-unite at the end. Both the movies show one of the lovers getting married (In One Day it's the hero and in Hum Tum it's the actress) elsewhere only to realise his/her love for the other at the end. The only difference may be is in the fact that One Day shows their life on a set day, each year.

Desigual: Publicity wonder

Desigual, a Barcelona-based high street fashion brand, opened its new store in Santa Monica, California. So what's new you ask? Publicity gimmick! All those who came for the launch of the store wearing their undergarments or only the underwear (men) were handed over a two-piece Desigual outfit for free. You've got the attention, you've got the freebie crowd and you've got the media. Their slogan; 'Come in undressed and go out dressed.' Works well, I say.

Dirty picture

Ample cleavage, polka dots and some kitschy (bordering on) trashy fashion - Dirty Picture starring Vidya Balan is out with its first teaser. The storyline is based on the life of late South actress Silk Smitha. here's the trailer. Something about the music that is quite catchy.

Elvis' pedigree

Elvis Presley's granddaughter is making her acting debut with Magic Mike and she plays a stripper in the movie. At the age of 14, she appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine with her famous lineage - grandmom Priscilla Presley (left) and mom Lisa Marie Presley. See pic below.
Is it just me or you too feel the woman in Riley at the sheer age of 14?

The one below shows a younger Riley with sibling, grandma and mom.

Hi

A month's break isn't a good idea. But a new place, a new job calls for some amount of settling in. So, here's a first look at our website www.bluefoot.in. Also check out http://www.bluefoot.in/people-itee-dewan.html. Some ego-boosting doesn't do any harm ;)

So, the new style and culture ambassador has a lot to say, a lot to write. Keep yourself looped in!

Chitrangada's lips?

So has Chitrangada too succumbed to the temptation of a plastic pout. In the latest issue of Verve, India, the actress appears on the cover and in the inside pages for a fashion spread with plumper lips. Here, I post a picture of the actress a couple of years ago (a fashion shoot again) and the picture from Verve. See the difference for yourself. It's quite easy to spot a lip job. Also refer to plastic surgeon's favourite Koena Mitra's before and after photo.

Flared pants

That's actress Salma Hayek in Boston. In picture, the wide-legged pants look decent, but I have my doubts about a short-heighted woman carrying off a pair of flared pants. What's your take?

Really, Are you healthy?

The world is coming to an end! We are sure you have been bombarded with these red letters every now and then by all possible visual mediums that exist. Let’s assume it is, why not die healthy then?
On a serious note don't you wanna get rid of those dark circles, a fat belly, knee cramps and annoying zits? Let me warn you this isn't a miraculous one-read body shape-altering article but you woud slowly reach there. What’s the harm in looking sexy, feeling healthy and thinking positively all the time? None, right? So, let's try and follow these 10 commandments:

1. Switch of the TV: Whether it’s 9 pm or 10 pm, whatever that works for you! Keep a deadline. Your television should go on a snooze mode. Read a book, play some meditative, jazz or classical music or grab a book. Just don’t let that TV disturb your blissful hours.
Hint: Try playing the sound of flute on your I-pod. Blissful!

2. Detox Darling: We know, we know you’ve heard this umpteen times. But it really, really does work. I tried it for myself. Just for two days from your otherwise caffeinated, sugary, chees-y life, live on fruits and veggies minus the salt and sugar. Your body will thank you for it. And the kilos lost; well ladies, do I need to say more?

3. Silence: Maddening traffic, boardroom chaos, cranky kids, neighbours…. beep beep beep. Don't fuss about meditation and the works. Just pure, simple silence ten minutes a day for a healthy mind.

4. Make nuts your friends: Almond, walnut, kishmish – pick them all. Popping a handful daily has been shown to lower heart disease risk by 35 percent. Just don’t overdo it.

5. Travel: Travelling not just opens up your mind but de-stresses your body too. Lifestyle expert Nidhi Goyal says, “Once in a while you should backpack and just let lose. It could be any destination of your choice. Trekking, rappelling or just sitting next to a river works as a spa for your soul.”

6. Carry a diary: Half of our worries intensify when we forget. You don’t need to be a computer wiz or a genius to remember everything - from your partner’s best friend’s anniversary to your kids’ favourite brand of chocolate at the groceries. Jotting things down makes it far more easier to remember and leaves your mind relaxed.

7. Water: Let’s accept it and just make it a habit. Even if it’s six glasses that you can manage, go for it. But do go for it. You will reach eight soon.

8. Floss and swish: The aisles at the groceries are filled with flosses and mouthwash. Go pick one today! Dr Ather Wani warns, “Formation of plaque and calculus leads to gum disease and can then proceed to periodontitis (inflammation of the structures surrounding the teeth -ligaments and bone). Periodontitis may affect the onset or progression of coronary heart disease.” Mouthwash is equally important. If you are stinking, you might lose a lot of friends and your mind too.

9. Walk: If you aren’t the sorts who like to spend hours at the gym or have two left feet, don’t force your body into it. When there were no machines, no salsa to jive to, no heart-pumping aerobics to book into, homo sapiens relied on walking. Pure, pleasurable walk to soothe your mind and exercise your body.

10: Don’t fret: Let's look at the age-old saying once again, ‘Don’t frown, someone might be falling in love with your smile.’ Fretting, fuming, frowning will add wrinkles to your face, pollute your mind, will make you look ugly and turn you into a negative b***. In short, smile J!

Hair fix

I always love a bit of real, workable tip/advice. I chanced upon this one on about.com. Let's give it a shot. After all, all of us have fried, dried and tortured our hair with the Philips and Remingtons of the world.

We love this recipe shared by celebrity stylist Chris McMillan outlined in Allure magazine. (You may know McMillan as Jennifer Aniston's hairstylist).
Step 1: Mix in a bowl 2 tablespoons each of rinse-out conditioner, a leave-in conditioner, a deep conditioner and a hair mask.
Step 2: Comb the mixture through clean, damp hair making sure to focus most of the product on mid-shaft down to the ends.
Step 3: Wet 2 large towels, wring them out and heat one in a microwave for 1-2 minutes (depending on how hot your microwave gets the towel, you want it tolerable to touch, but steamy warm).
Step 4: Wrap hair up in the hot towel while you heat second towel in microwave.
Step 5: Alternate wrapping hair in towels about 2-3 times.

This ultra-deep conditioner should be repeated once a week.

STOP slamming Sonam!

sonam kapoor

Enough has been said, rather complained, about actress Sonam Kapoor's appearance at the Cannes Film Festival on Day 2. Different blogs, some news websites (including NDTV) has trashed her look. With remarks as, "White is so grandma", "emeralds with white is cliched", "hairdo adds years to her face", "bare arms was a bad idea"... and blah blah blah.
A stupendous look, I say! Not all silhouettes have to cling to the body. Not all hair has to be always worn open or in bumpit buns. Not all colours have to blind your eye. Its a smooth, flawless look. If I had to complain, may be the over-bronzed face. Rest is Perfecto! Way to go Girl!

Clothes-Horse!!

So this is the Jennifer Lopez, we know. Fashionable, Sexy and ultra chic. Now, look at the images below.

The icon who is synonymous with oomph and style has had this to show to the world! Put together above are a few of the pieces from Sweetface, Jennifer Lopez's clothing line. With disastrous creations like that, the label was meant to go phut!. In one of her interviews, the singer/actress has admitted it (the fashion line) to be a "disappointment." But guess, some people just don't give it up. The lady is relaunching another designer line, this time in partnership with hubby Marc Anthony. Voila!

Red Gams

So, we had another red jeans on the road. After Khloe, Rihanna and others http://fashionably-random-itee.blogspot.com/search/label/red it was model Padma Lakshmi's turn to go red-legged. Seems like a big trend now.

What a name!

Katy Perry
That's singer Katy Perry wearing a Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Pronunciation problems aside, the label is by a Moroccan designer who goes by the same name; JC/DC in short (Thank God for small favours!). This is not the first time Katy is wearing this designer. Back in 2008, Katy wore a rather funky creation by the label at the MTV awards in Europe. Eccentric Lady Gaga has worn the designer too. See pictures below.

Indian jhola goes West

There's something about the Indian jhola (bag, for the uninitiated). Our little gem that we should truly treasure. Part because of it's availability at every nook and corner and part because it comes dirt cheap, we don't seem to value it enough. After actress Julia Roberts, Mary-Kate Oslen and Miley Cyrus, it is Sienna Miller who has taken to the jhola. In a casual do, she sported the jhola at a recent event in London. (See picture below)

Rave or Rant: RANT!

Where did Scarlett send her stylist? Or did she borrow Sean Penn's?

Diamonds on her face

Mila Kunis
While reading one of the fashion glossies, I chanced upon this beauty news. Actress Mila Kunis of Black Swan fame gets a special facial, which involves rubbing diamonds and rubies on the face in a particularly designed motion for a flawless glow. The facial costs a whopping $7000, i.e. say Rs 2,40,000 approx. Whopping!!!
Ladies, it's time you start rubbing your rubies the right way! Oh yeah, and the diamonds too.

Captured and tormented

Ingrid Betancourt is on my mind today, besides Osama, of course. Just brought the book 'Even Silence has an End,' an autobiography by a lady who was captured by revolutionary forces of Colombia and held in captivity for six painful years in a horrifying jungle. The first few pages have had me. Waiting to finish it soon. Though it's a tome in itself. On the right is a picture of the lady.

PS: Read Mende Nazer's Slave. A must read. A true story of a Sudanese girl who was kept a slave almost all her life.

Anorexia

Continuing from my last post, I was reading about models Luisel Ramos and her sister Eliana Ramos from Uruguay. Both, aged 20 and 18, died of anorexia, six months apart. Here's a picture of Luisel Ramos a few months before her death.
Shocking!

Sticky-thin

So I am back. That was a long hiatus.
Stick thin took a different meaning when I happened to glance at these photographs. These are images of women who lost their mind while losing their weight. Their brain stopped working but their bulimic anxieties didn't. I hope those who are reading or viewing this are horrified and do not attempt it.

Doomsday

If you've been following the blog, I am on a holiday. But last night a trip to Bikanerwala, (yes, they have a branch in Auckland, New Zealand), had me stumped. Not stumped as in stumped, stumped. But THE STUMPED that has a 'have-heard-but-still-stumped' feeling. Well, the man at the counter mentioned he read that the world is coming to an end on May 21. That is next month. In six weeks. Harold Camping, the preacher who has predicted the doomsday says that in a flash 2% of the world population will come to an end. Why does it feel that Australia and New Zealand that makes for almost 2% of the world population will come to an end first? (The 2% is my calculation)

PS: It's Jeetendra's birthday today. The actor Jeetendra.

no post

No post in a week. Not happening. All fun all week. Totally happening. Holidaying in New Zealand at my aunt's place. will be back soon with my musings.
Take care.

oh cameron!

Cameron Diaz has increasingly started to look like a man. Why? And do you feel the same too?
